"A woman who cuts her hair is about to change her life" -Coco Chanel

I made the decision to cut all my hair off AGAIN. The only difference between then and now is, I am actually going to rock it out in public. I was always self conscious about showing my hair and what it looked like. I knew there would be a day where I stopped caring and started to live my life for me and not what others thought of me. This decision however did not come lightly. I like to think things through before I make drastic changes and decisions.

Last week, I packed up all my stuff and quit my job of 6 1/2 years with no remorse. The past 2 school years, I wasn't staying for myself instead, I was staying for others. I would always feel bad and think about what would  happen if I did leave. Would the class be okay?, would they hire someone that actually teaches etc. I'm thinking all of that while I am stressing in bed and those people are okay sleeping in their beds. I knew I had to make that stop ASAP! I even expressed to my daughters that quitting is not okay however, if you feel you can do better and deserve more then you do what you have to do. I had to make sure my girls see that mommy is not here for the BS from anyone especially with being an African American woman.

After quitting, I felt more empowered to change everything. I knew embracing my hair would be the first. Not only for me, but for my daughters too. I want them to know that natural hair and nails is beautiful. We should not let society tell US that hair weaves, lashes, and fake nails signifies beauty. It should ENHANCE our natural beauty. Who am I to express that constantly to my girls while I am getting weaves and/or lace fronts? I have to make sure I am setting an example for my black daughters in a f'd up world.

This is going to be a change of many for me. I have so many plans and I am going to utilize this free time (summer) to do just that.

If you are having some doubts on whether to make some changes in your life, I suggest you shift your mindset and just make those changes. You don't have to explain yourself to anyone. Opinions from others based on YOUR decisions/moves are not relevant.

Fun Things To Do As A Family This Summer

Another school year has come to an end. I can't believe how fast the year went for my girls. I know that they will expect to do so much and it's time for me to start planning some things for just us girls to do together and as family with daddy lol. I decided to share some ideas that you all can do with your families too. I am not sure of when school ends for you guys but ours end the last week of May. So technically, my girls have 2 whole months off. I am going to definitely implement some type of educational activity. But for the most part, they are going to have fun.

I know this is a time where families usually take vacations and what not, but I am also going to include things to do at home or in your local community.

Things to do at home

1) Cook/bake together

2) Play board games

3) Paint (you can buy a canvas for everyone at Dollar Tree along with some acrylic paint from Walmart and watch a Youtube video with an easy painting tutorial that the whole family can do)

4) Tye Dye..This is super fun. You can buy a kit at your local Wlamrt or craft store. You can basically the dye anything. We did this last year and we all had a great time check it out here Fun Summer Activity For The Family (Tie Dye Shirts).

5) Slumber Party in the living room or master bedroom. Bring in the treats, drinks, movies, and wear your PJ's.

6) Arts and Crafts. There are plenty of inexpensive materials that will allow you create almost anything.

7) Record a dance video

Things to do outside of home

1) Beach/Water park

2) Park

3) Picnics

4) Go on a walk around your neighborhood or if your are adventurous, go on a nature walk at your local park trail.

5) Visit family

6) Staycations (Spend a night or 2 at a local hotel or resort...kids love hotels for some reason)

7) Family vacations (always check online for deals and discounts)

Take That Leap of Faith

I am ready to just speak to someone today because my spirit is on 100 right now. Listen, when you manifest something, you have to believe in your heart that it will come to life. I am living it right now. Another thing, when you make plans best believe God will either make it happen or switch it up a bit. For the past 2 years, I have been battling with whether or not I should stay at my place of employment. For those of you that don't know I WAS working at a preschool as a VPK teacher for 6 years and this school year a Kindergarten/First grade class opened up and I taught it. If you haven't read that blog, you can click here What Led Me To Teaching Kindergarten/First Grade anyway, for months I was stressed and started feeling discouraged (this had nothing to do with my students, I love my class) it was just a mental thing.  I am still on my positivity kick and I realized I was not practicing what I was preaching if I am coming into an establishment not happy and ready to give it all up. With the same breath, I am telling y'all to not let negative energy get to you and if you are not happy somewhere to just leave.

My mental health was declining and I caught myself being upset more than usual and I know that I had to do something quick. So, I started taking mental health days and stared acting as if I was not working. I would wake up in the morning, take the girls to school, come home and sit in my patio and write in my journal with a cup of coffee. I would treat my whole day as if I did not have a job. I envisioned this everyday. I acted out the life I wanted to live.

If you do not own a journal to write down your visions, thoughts, plans etc, then I suggest you get on that now because, you will have that "aha" moment and when you go back and read what you wrote prior to that moment, you will be in shock. A few weeks ago I was telling my husband I wanted to quit but I felt bad for the class. I even planned when my last day at the job would be. I asked for a sign. All of this was written in my journal 2 weeks ago. God gave me 2 signs and he did not want me to finish out the school year. Even though that was my intention. Teaching is my thing and my passion BUT, it will be in a better environment at the right time. Right now, I am enjoying my family and getting things done.

Only you have the power to determine how you want to live your life and who will be part of it. If you feel like you can do better, take that leap of faith. Always remember, your mental health comes first. If your gut is telling you something isn't right.... IT'S NOT! Manifest the life you want to live and act like it already happened!!! Trust the process and do the work.

Hopefully this is the sign that you needed to take that leap of faith. Good luck, You Got This Girl! My ebook also talks about taking that leap of faith with different situations in our everyday lives.

Word of Advice

It's the last week of school! I can't believe how fast it went.(If you didn't know, I am a teacher). Although it is the last week, I took another mental health day today. I am starting to listen to my body and when it tells me to take it easy or focus on something else, then that is what I do. I can't give my all to things or people and neglect myself and my hustles and neither should you! It was on my heart to write this post. It may be for someone who is reading this right now or in the near future.

I don't want to be classified as an Influencer because I am not that. I don't want to work for IG per say however, my goal on being on social media is to promote this blog site and my experiences so that it can help or motivate someone who may be in the same situation. For the past few months as I tried to grow my audience and produce some type of content(still learning) I noticed that everyone is acting almost the same online. It is kind of sad in my opinion. I see a lack of authenticity.

Most of the women all look the same and act the same. They promote the same businesses and the lack of support for others is very noticeable. I follow quite a few "influencers" who I know started off real small and always interacted with their followers and shared each others posts and what not, but the moment a few of them gained an audience, they started moving different. Why support a person or company that already has a huge following that doesn't even know you exist? Whereas you have small influencers that support you 100% but they can't even get a single like or share from some of you.

Now, I know no one should base anything on likes, comments, shares, etc However, if you are using these platforms as a potential business then they do matter. I quietly watch and observe people on- line and most times I can tell who is very genuine with their audience. I don't think it will kill you to support one another. I have made some great connections online and I try my hardest to share their content and comments on their stuff because I honestly feel like we all should win.

My word of advice to you all is to be humble with everything and everyone around you because one day you can have it all, and then poof the next day it can all be gone. Remember the people who supported you in the beginning stages when you had nothing, and think about the people who "support" you now when you made a name for yourself. Sometimes its "clout chasing" If you feel like giving up because the numbers are not where you want them to be, DON'T... My numbers have not grown in months and that is NOT going to stop me. Consistency also plays a factor and engaging with your audience, even if its only one person.  If you were able to get that one person to reach out to you and thank you for something you did or said on a post that inspired them, then you have made it! It only takes one person to feel motivated/inspired.

Social Media is a great platform, but it can also mess up your mental state. Learn how to shift your mindset and not take things personal. Like I always say, if following someone makes you feel some type of way...UNFOLLOW them. The discernment you are feeling is not for play play. Whatever your hustle is, be consistent with it and never give up. Don't compare yourself to anyone and your timing for success will come when its YOUR time. I want us all to win and we all will.

My Self-Care Skin Routine

Some of the links in this post are affiliate links.

I am big on skin care. I haven't always been though. I think as I've gotten older, I started to be more focused on the health of my skin. I make it a priority to implement this routine as one of my self-care regimens. There are plenty of skin care products and I have used quite a few. For some reason, I am always drawn back to the staples from back in the day. As always, take what you need and leave what you don't. Everyone's skin is different and these products may or may not work for you.

Just a disclaimer I will get a small commission if you purchase any of these items by clicking on the links...it will not affect you in any way.

My go to product for my face cleanser hands down is an old staple... Noxzema! It also now has Eucalyptus extract in it and I love it. If you don't know anything about Eucalyptus, just know that it can help boost circulation, prevent or treat acne, and reduce redness. (you're welcome)

The next skin care product that I love is my Witch Hazel Toner. There are plenty of toners out there, but this one so far is my fave. It makes my skin feel real soft and hydrated and I highly recommend it. I have the one with Aloe Vera and Rose Water but this is the closest one to the one that I have... I am pretty sure it works the same.

This product is really good too. I use these pads to remove any dirt and oil from my face. It also removes makeup very well too. It does not burn and anyone can use it.

I did not purchase this facial serum from amazon, however, they do have it. I purchased this from Marshalls and it also works wonders for my skin.

I know everyone's mom and/or grandma had this GOAT facial moisturizer in their house. I have used this product for years and I live by it. My daughters use it too.

This is definitely trending and I am a part of that trend. This jade roller is amazing. It works very well for circulation and I love it more when it is cold. I suggest putting in the freezer. Your face will thank you.

These are my go to products that I use and if you have any products that you can suggest to me, Let me know in the comments. Have a great day!!!
