HOW TO REMOVE HEALTHY NAILS (DIP POWDER

As much as we don't want to accept the fact that our favorite nail salons are closed due to COVID19, we actually have to face the fact that our favorite nail salons are closed due to COVID19 lol. I don't know about you guys, but when the word was going around that the shops were temporarily closing and quarantine life was about to start, I quickly set an appointment to get my nails done.

When I was younger (teenage years and early 20's) I ALWAYS got my nails done and they were always with acrylics. As I got older, (early 30's) I let my nails grow and just been rocking with them ever since. UNTIL my co-worker told me about healthy nails or you can call them dip powder. It is basically like a liquid and powder combo that gets hard once applied, and the nail color lasts a very very long time, unlike the regular nail polish or Gel polish that requires the UV-Light. My nails are already long, but after getting the dip powder, my nails grow even longer.

Just like every place you get services done such as hair salons, barbershops, even massage parlors, you have to be very careful and make sure that everything the technicians are using is being sanitized. The other thing to remember is that your nails will grow (your cuticles will grow out). This should happen maybe after 3-5 weeks). If it lasts any longer, THAT IS GREAT!!! If you are in need after 1 week then they did a bad job on your nails.

The process to remove the powder is very time-consuming. Nail polish remover WILL NOT remove the powder. You will need 100% pure acetone. When I get them removed, I'm usually getting a Pedi as well so I don't feel like it takes that long. HOWEVER, this time around it is time for me to remove the powder and my shop is CLOSED😞. I couldn't stand to look at my nails any longer. So I turned to YouTube and learned how to DIY Dip nail removal.

Steps To Removing The Dip Powder From Your Nails.
Materials:

  1. 100% Pure Acetone
  2. Aluminum Foil (cut into 10 squares to wrap around your nails)
  3. Cotton Balls
  4. Nail Remover Caps( optional)
  5. Nail Filer
  • Step 1: Buff your nail with the nail filer to remove the shine from the color

  • Step 2: Soak your cotton ball with acetone and place it directly on the nail, then get one aluminum foil square and wrap your whole finger around it. Do this for all 10 fingers. If you have the nail tip remover caps you can put it on too for extra coverage.

  • Step 3: Let it sit for about 15-20 minutes. This is the perfect time to watch Netflix or Hulu.

Couldn't find a picture of my nails when they were old, but this what they looked like a few days after I got them done

20 minutes with this on lol

Finished product... Your hands and nails will be very dry because of the acetone. I washed my hands with warm water and soap and rubbed vaseline on each cuticle and nail.
